Hubbard Radio Takes Ownership Position in Podcast Giant


      Commercial radio and podcasting have been treated as two foreign entities. It was like the mediums were neighboring cities split by a river of digital dollars. Both were sofocused on fishing from the river that they missed the bigger picture to build a bridge and connect the sides. Those days are inevitably over. We spoke at length to both Hubbard CEO Ginny Morris and PodcastOne CEO Norm Pattiz. 

      In just the last several months, CBS Radio, iHeartMedia, and E.W. Scripps have made commitments to develop digital audio. The most recent splash is Hubbard Radio announcing they've purchased a 30% stake in PodcastOne. Morris says Hubbard now gets a "front-row seat" to a company with an audience of 400 million monthly impressions for advertisers. That's an extremely attractive number. Morris added, "Podcasting… that is more than repurposed radio shows, it's part of the audio landscape that is here to stay and we want to be a part of it." more
